アップルは、2012年7月に公開を予定している次期OS Mountain Lionの対応機種を発表した。
おおよそ2008年以降の機種で、64bitに対応できるハードウェアかどうかなどがポイントだ。

MacBook（Late 2008アルミニウム製、またはEarly 2009以降）
MacBook Pro（Mid/Late 2007以降）
MacBook Air（Late 2008以降）
Mac mini（Early 2009以降）
Mac Pro（Early 2008以降）
Xserve（Early 2009）
MacBook Airは一度目のアップデート以降(最初のモデルは非対応)
MacBookはアルミニウム製の2008年製、プラスチック製の2009年モデル以降
MacBook Proは2007年モデル以降
