NokiaとMicrosoftは2011年2月11日、モバイル分野の戦略的提携を発表した。
NokiaはSymbianを採用していたが、今後のスマートフォンではWindows Phoneを採用する。またBingを採用、マーケティングや開発ロードマップを共同で進めるなど、各分野で両社は密接に関わるようだ。
現在、スマートフォン分野ではAppleのiOS、Androidのシェアが高く、それにWindows Phone 7などが続こうとしている。他にもBlackBerryやSymbianなどもあるが、Nokiaはこの市場にWindows Phoneで挑んでいくと言うことだろう。
日本ではNokiaは撤退した後で、Windows Phone 7も本格化していない。
Nokiaは他にIntelとのMeeGoなどもあるが、タブレットなどの分野ではまた異なる戦略になるようだ。
世界的にこの分野は今後数年間はこのような大規模な提携などが相次ぐのだろうか。
