Appleは2010年5月7日、日本、オーストラリア、カナダ、フランス、ドイツ、イタリア、スペイン、スイス、英国において、iPadを2010年5月28日に発売することを発表した。
日本において、Apple Online StoreでiPad Wi-Fi版を、iPad Wi-Fi + 3G版はApple直営店及び正規販売店において販売される。
また、オーストリア、ベルギー、香港、アイルランド、ルクセンブルク、メキシコ、オランダ、ニュージーランド、シンガポールでも6月に販売される。
