iPadが欲しい。
こんな製品が欲しいと思ったのは、この製品が噂される以前の2008年夏頃からだ。iPhone 3Gを購入したのは2008年の6月だが、実際に使うとアップルのタッチパネルインターフェースがすばらしすぎた。アップルは、これを応用したタブレットPCをつくるのを確信し、今回の発売まで待ち続けていた。
今回、発売されるiPadはWi-Fi版と、Wi-Fi + 3G版の2種類。
内蔵メモリは最大のを買うに決まっている。問題はWi-Fi版とWi-Fi + 3G版のどちらを買うかだ。
本当はWiMAX版があれば迷わすそっちを選ぶのだが、今のところ望むまでもない。
今回3G版で意外だったのが、SIMロックフリー版として提供され、3Gの契約も長期契約が必要のない物になると言うこと。さらに、AT&Tの料金も、最大で月にUS$29.99という比較的安い設定。
このような料金設定が、諸外国でも提供されるのかわからないが、おそらく似たような物になるのではないかと予想する。
そうすれば、常に海外で問題になるネット接続をどうするのかという問題がiPadで解消される。
もちろん、iPadでしか使えないが、日本にいるときと同じように、いつでもどこでもネットに接続できるようになるのはすばらしい利点だ。
ということで、最大内蔵メモリの3G + Wi-Fi版iPadが欲しい。I want the iPad.
